fiscal cliff happening. in which case a resolution won't happen until the new congress comes into session on january 3rd. gregg: that's right. we've been following not only the events on the floor but people stepping before microphones. here is representative jim moran. >> there are going to be voting sunday night and then probably watching the skins-cowboys fame in the cloakroom. then we'll, then we'll be in session on december 31st as well. gregg: what does he mean, we're going to vote sunday night? >> here's what might happen. both parties meet with the president today at the white house. they all say look, here we are on the precipice here. let's come up with something so we stop these tax hikes from happening on january 1st. let's come together and come up with kind of a stopgap deal. in other words, something short term. this is something congress will typically do when both sides are at an impasse. they find a way to get by for a little while longer. buy themselves more time. if they come up with a deal like that, the house is coming back into session on sunday night. it is
